Hello again from Hawaii Kai.
ハワイカイからこんにちは。
I hope everyone is doing well.
For the last 13 months I have been doing renovations to this house also known as D.I.Y. or Do It Yourself.  This was planned with the hope of becoming a HomeStay host for mainly high school and university students from Japan and other countries wanting to learn and advance in E.S.L. or English as a Second Language.  It was a long and tedious process to create new flooring, walls, bathrooms and more.  There were many times that I worked 7 days straight.  But I knew it would be a worthwhile goal to strive for.

 

皆さん、お元気でお過ごしでしょうか。

この13ヶ月間、私はD.I.Y.（Do It Yourself）とも呼ばれるこの家の改修工事を行ってきました。 これは、主にE.S.L.（第二外国語としての英語）を学び、上達したい日本や他の国々からの高校生や大学生のためのホームステイのホストになることを願って計画されました。 床、壁、バスルームなどを新しくするのは、長く退屈な作業でした。 7日間ぶっ通しで働いたことも何度もありました。 でも、それは努力しがいのある目標だと思っていました。

Please know that I am in no way trying to have students come directly to me.  I am working with an agency here that coordinates with agencies that plan for students to come to Hawaii for schooling but also need a place to stay while here.  HomeStay is where students will live in a house, study English and learn about Hawaiian culture too.  Students will attend classes at either universities or private schools for English with the goal to advance their speaking and writing skills.  On the weekends when there are no classes, the students will have the opportunity to visit some cultural places, do some shopping, also free time to go to the beach, or hiking and other activities.  Hawaii Kai is a safe neighborhood.  I included some photos here.

 

私は決して学生を直接私のところに来させようとしているのではないことを知っておいてください。 私は、ハワイに学校に通うためにハワイに来るけれども、ハワイにいる間に滞在する場所が必要な学生を受け入れている機関と連携しています。 ホームステイは、学生が家に住み、英語を学び、ハワイの文化も学ぶ場所です。 学生は大学や私立の英語学校の授業に出席し、スピーキングとライティングの上達を目指します。 授業がない週末には、文化的な場所を訪ねたり、ショッピングをしたり、ビーチやハイキングなどの自由時間を過ごします。 ハワイカイは安全な地域です。 ここに写真を載せました。

And the kitchen.  I have to find our cookbooks as we have to provide breakfast and dinner for the students.
そしてキッチン。 生徒たちに朝食と夕食を提供しなければならないので、料理本を探さないといけません。
And the swimming pool in our complex.  What a beautiful day, I think everyone went to the beach instead.

” leis ” or flower garlands.

A mini-park here.  A quiet place to have a nice conversation.
ここは小さな公園です。 会話を楽しむための静かな場所。
My trident maple tree with red colored leaves, a new spring season is starting.
紅葉した我が家のカエデ、新しい春の季節の始まりです。
What a beautiful quiet beach, great for a seaside barbecue.
静かで美しいビーチ。海辺でバーベキューをするには最高です。
Or hiking in the mountains.
山歩きもいい。
And sometimes on a cool morning with Kona (South) winds blowing, it’s walking in a cloud.
コナ（南）の風が吹く涼しい朝には、雲の中を歩くこともあります。
Just a short drive away is Makapuu Beach with Rabbitt Island in the background.  This area is known for being a power spot or vortex.
車ですぐのところに、ラビット島を背景にしたマカプウ・ビーチがあります。 このあたりはパワースポット、ボルテックスとして知られています。
And back to the famous Waikiki Beach for a sunset.  A nice way to end the day.

そして有名なワイキキビーチに戻ってサンセット。 一日を終えるのに良い締めくくりです。
